Quick Update and New Product

Just a quick update on my Loreal Infallible eye shadow -

I wore Eternal Sunshine today and it looked totally perfect from the time I applied it until the time I took it off. Of course, like the brilliant person I am, I didn't take a picture of it before I removed it.

It lasted through a day of me running around a busy tobacco shop, sweating like a mad person. It even lasted through a few eye rubs! All in all, I am pleased that I bought this product. If it can last through a day of work with me, it is definitely a keeper. Looks like I need to go buy more shades next pay day!

A few days back I switched to a different toothpaste. I am a big time coffee drinker and a light smoker, two things I've been indulging in since I was a teenager. It started taking a toll on my teeth. About three or four days ago I picked up a tube of Colgate Optic White toothpaste, which states that your teeth will be whiter in one week with regular use due to the 1% peroxide content. I can't afford the rounds of whitening strips, so I couldn't pass up the chance to whiten my teeth outside of the dentist but with a different means than the high priced strips. In the three or four days with twice daily brushing, I can already tell a difference in my teeth. The price isn't bad either! If I'm not mistaken, I paid less than four dollars for a small tube. The only downside I can see is the fact that it burns a little bit. Nothing unbearable, but a slight burning sensation.

I open our store tomorrow, so it's time for good Vonnies to hit the sheets.

For tonight, I leave you with a shot of my lovely companion and partner in crime, Minnie (short for Minerva). She is three years old and has been my baby since the moment she was born.

I still have her mommy, though Layla prefers to be outside. Minnie is my spoiled little brat. I don't know what I'd do without my little fur baby.

Day 30: Your Favorite Nail Polish

And we've finally reached Day 30!

My favorite polish is Essie's Jag-u-are, which can be found here.

I am a huge sucker for red nail polish, especially classic red. To me, red polish has always screamed glamorous and makes me feel like a million bucks. This particular red has a bit of shimmer which makes it really stand out. With a great top coat the color really pops.

Today hasn't been a very good day. I woke up this morning and I wasn't able to walk without assistance. I spent most of the day in bed sleeping. I am still feeling a bit woozy, but much better than I did this morning. Even worse is I am such a work-a-holic, I tried to get up and go to work. I managed to stumble into the kitchen to make breakfast, but half way through getting my pan heated I lost all sense of balance and just sat there on the kitchen floor until someone came in and found me. I was quickly ushered to bed, where I've been ever since.

I haven't been ill during a holiday yet this year, so I suppose I am finally getting my holiday illness for New Year's. Go figure, I just bought the cutestest headband hat to wear out on New Year's Eve, and now I won't be able to wear it :(

Time to go back to bed. I've got to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for work tomorrow!

Do you have any New Year's Eve plans? Any cute outfits planned? Let me know in the comments ^.^

Day 29: Photo of Something That Makes You Go 'Aww'

This is another day that made me have to think. It didn't take me long to settle on this:

There is something about this photo that makes me incredibly happy, that gives me hope.

I have been with my boyfriend for six years now. One day I hope to have a photo like this of the two of us.

Born Pretty Giveaway

Born Pretty is hosting a New Year's giveaway! They are offering some beautiful pieces. My favorite is the phoenix comb :)

Four Days of Tag

Since I've missed the last four days of my tag, you get another catch-up post!

Before I begin, I have a bit of news. My goddaughter was readmitted to the hospital today. I may not be around for the next few days, depending on her condition. That child is my life, and we are all extremely worried.

Day 25 - What do you want to get from luuux

I have no bloody idea what luuux is, so I am just going to skip this day, haha. If anyone knows, please leave me a comment. This question is leaving me feeling like a total idiot.

Day 26 - An item from your wish list

The one item currently on my wish list is any of the Revlon Lip Butters. I cannot find them around here and I'm dying to try them after seeing all of the rave reviews they've received.

Day 27 - Your favorite skincare product

My favorite skin care product is my Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System. This system keeps my skin completely clear, save for the occasional hormonal acne that pops up around that time of the month or when I'm stressed.

It keeps it so clear that I don't even need foundation, just the occasional spot of concealer to cover up those 'up till 4AM working on a term paper' circles under my eyes :3

Day 28 - Your favorite drink

I don't have one favorite drink. It's a toss up between a Tom Collins and gin and tonic when it comes to alcoholic beverages.

For non-alcoholic beverages, I'm a sucker for Yoohoo. I could drink it by the gallon and not feel an inch of guilt. Unfortunately, it's a calorie powerhouse, with a whopping 180 per serving (going by the nutrition facts on the cans). If the cans are that high, I can only imagine how high the bottles are!

Happy Late Christmas!

Happy belated Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Did Santa bring you everything on your wish list?

This has been the best holiday I've had in years, for one reason: my goddaughter was released from the hospital.

I haven't been online much over the last few days because my goddaughter has been ill and was taken to a hospital an hour or so away for some tests. I spent most of those few days on the phone with my bestie either crying with her, talking about my goddaughter's condition, and generally worrying about her. It's been really stressful.

I did get to talk to my little one a few times when I called, and she melted my heart by telling me how much she missed me and 'Pop' (my dad).

On Christmas Eve she was released, though I didn't get to see her until today. Seeing her face was what made this holiday the best I have had in years. Her face absolutely lit up when she opened her Cinderella pillow doll.

This morning was spent with my boyfriend and parents. I was more excited to give them their gifts that I didn't touch mine until everyone finished. My parents gave my boyfriend a New Orleans Saints football helmet, which he immediately put on. I can now see game time in our house - boyfriend is going to be on the couch wearing the helmet.

As usual, my father managed to surprise me!

I finally have a camera! I took so many pictures today. I can't wait to get them all on Facebook so I can share them with my family.

Now that I've got a camera, I can start piccin' up my posts!

My boyfriend proved that he had been paying attention to my random lustings and got me a plethora of earrings and a bottle of perfume.

All of these are from the bf, except the small gold hoops, which came from my grandmother.

I am absolutely in love with these! The science nerd in me screams out double helix! I <3 my DNAish earrings.

I love these hoops. I normally wear really large hoops, so small hoops with stones are a refreshing change.

Detail shot. I posted this not only for the details, but because I am still in awe that I finally have an amazing camera that can catch such detail in a close up shot ^.^

Lil'Angel! I have been lusting over this for a while. I am in the process of collecting all of the Harajuku girls. She makes the third girl in my collection, and has now taken her place next to Love an G on my jewelry box.

My mother surprised me as well. She picked out a flat iron for me that does both wet and dry hair. I gave it a test drive today before we went to my boyfriend's father's house for dinner and it is amazing! I got so many compliments on my hair today. My grandmother even asked me if I had colored my hair again.

The kids finally arrived around eleven and we did presents with them. They were all pleased as far as I can tell, especially the boys. Boyfriend custom painted an older iPod mini like a Terrible Towel (Pittsburgh Steelers) for his oldest son. It is very rare for his son to hug him as a thank you, but the moment he opened the box with the iPod he was out of the chair and hugging my boyfriend.

The youngest boy now has more Beyblades than he will ever be able to battle with and is happy as a clam.

I am still not sure what to think about his daughter's attitude. Of course nothing I got her was as awesome as the things her mother got her, nor as awesome as the things her aunt got her, because I didn't spend as much money I suppose. I won't say that it didn't hurt my feelings, nor will I say it doesn't bother me. I just wish she would realize that when you get a gift it isn't about how much it cost, but rather the thought that was put into it. I fear she is becoming too materializtic.

I love everything I was given, even though I didn't need a thing. All I wanted for Christmas this year was for my goddaughter to be home safe and sound. Her being home was enough for me.

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday. Goodnight!

Early Christmas Mini Haul

My mother and I made a trip to Walgreens and CVS this evening to do some browsing, and I ended up getting a few new things.

CVS had some really great sales on. There were a lot of buy one, get one 50% off on some great products. One of the products was Loreal's Infallible eye shadow. I looked at them and nearly bought them myself, but put them back. My mother grabbed them and took them to the register. The retail price is $7.49, so we got the second one for just over $3 and then added on a $2 off coupon. All together it came out to just under $10 for the both of them.

I chose Perpetual Purple and Eternal Sunshine. I didn't realize until after I got home that they were my high school's colors!
This is a shot from the bottom. I love the little containers!

This is Eternal Sunshine. The sheer color on top was applied with my finger, and the more brilliant color on the bottom was achieved with a brush. I think a brush will be my main mode of application with these colors, mainly because if I apply with my finger most of the pigment seems to be caught in the grooves of my skin leaving only shimmers behind when applied.

Swatches of Perpetual Purple. Again, the sheer color on top was applied by finger, and the darker below achieved with a brush.

This little press is probably my favorite part of the deal. Not only does it keep the powder from going everywhere, but it also presses it down. This is the first time I've come across a product with any little gadgets like this inside.

While there I also looked for Garnier's Skin Renew B.B. Cream, which I had seen last night on Nouveau Cheap. She said it had been spotted at CVS, so I decided to check mine. Unfortunately, my search didn't yield any results.

Seeing the disappointment in my eyes, my mother suggested we go across the street to Walgreens. My first search yielded no results yet again, so Mom suggested I ask the girl at the beauty counter.

It's a good thing I did! After a bit of searching with the sales associate, I found the display on top of a shelf. If the girl hadn't have said anything, I would have never found it. I was blown away!

Even better was that they had it buy one get one half off, which I was really tempted to do. I was just weary of buying two of a product I hadn't tried. If this turns out as well as I hope, I will go back and take advantage of the deal. The girl was even nice enough to dig through her coupon stash and found me a dollar off coupon!

Walgreens has the price set at $12.99. It was $11.99 with the dollar off coupon, which made the find even sweeter!

This is the box to look for if you go hunting for it. I expected that the B.B. Cream would be in larger print, which led me to overlook it the first time I glanced over the shelves.

The tube is a very nice size. I expect it to last quite a while, even with daily use.

How it looks straight out of the tube. I was worried when I bought it, simply because the products created for light/medium skin don't work well on me as a general rule.

After a bit of blending, it can't be seen.

My first impression of this product is an overall positive one. It smells decent for a makeup, and does it's job well. I did try it after I took these pictures, I just didn't take any pictures of the results (it's been a long day - I looked like hell).  It did take a bit more blending on my face than it did on my hand, mainly because my face is so light. It hid nearly all of my blemishes and freckles (which I don't have many of to begin with), though it didn't do much for my dark circles. It left my skin hydrated. It did feel a little pasty and made my skin feel rather odd, different from a traditional moisturizer. Otherwise, my skin looked absolutely fantastic.

Once I finished with the application, I dusted on a bit of Palladio Rice Powder in Natural to set it. I'm not sure if it is just my inexperience with b.b. creams or if I was a bit heavy handed with the powder, but it left my skin looking a bit pasty. I will have to experiment.

Loreal Infallible eye shadow - A nice splurge. A bit difficult to get off, but long lasting. More colors would be nice, though the current selection covers all bases from neutrals to wilder colors.

Garnier B.B. Cream - Love it. As stated on the box, it evens skin tone and brightens. I just wish it was offered with more options other than Light/Medium and Medium/Dark. Since this is my first b.b. cream experience, I will need to order an Asian version to give an accurate comparison and see if the Garnier version really holds a candle to it's predecessors.

Overall, I am over the moon pleased. I never expected to find the B.B. Cream in my local Walgreens since I can't even find the Revlon Lip Butters here. The girl at Walgreens informed me that they are marking down a lot of Revlon products to bring in new things, so maybe that will be the next on my haul list! I cannot wait!

Day 24: Your Favorite Food

My favorite food is broccoli casserole.

You can find the recipe for this particular version of broccoli casserole at myrecipes.com.

The only difference between this recipe and my mother's recipe is we don't use mayo in it, just the mushroom soup, cheese, broccoli, and bread crumbs.

It's really simple. Combine a 16oz bag of frozen broccoli (cooked) with a can of cream of mushroom soup and the shredded cheddar cheese and then top with bread crumbs. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until it's slightly bubbly and the bread crumb have turned golden brown, in an oven set to 350 degrees. You can add rice, too. My cousin adds cooked rice to hers and it makes it more filling and yummy.

You can season to taste. For me, it's all about the cheese and less about the spices.

I will say that this is incredibly fattening and probably super bad for you, but this is one of my comfort foods. I don't feel good and mom will make me this. It tastes like home.

Review: Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System

This is a product that I've used before and greatly enjoyed, and raved to my friends about, but I stopped using it a few months back when I hit harder times with money.

Now that I have a steady job and am able to spare the money each month, I've returned to the system and my skin has never looked better.

This kit comes with three different items: a skin polishing face wash, an acne lotion, and SPF 10 oil free moisturizer.

Day 23: Place Where You Want To Live

Today's question took a bit of thought.

I considered all of the different cities I would love to live in, from New York City to Tokyo.

Then I considered the different areas, like if I would really want to live in a large city, or if I would rather live in a rural area where my nearest neighbor lives a mile away (which I have done, and it is pretty damn awesome).

Then the conclusion I came to was one that was staring me in the face the entire time: I am fine right where I am. I have everything I need where I currently live. Sure, the shopping may suck, and I'm surrounded by people who would rather live in blind ignorance than attempt to educate themselves, but I am also surrounded by the people I love.

Wherever they are at is where I want to live.

Great Giveaway

It's funny, I considered purchasing a China Glaze gift set for a girlfriend of mine and then find this giveaway only a few hours later!

If you are a fan of China Glaze colors like I am, go check out Ugly Duckling's China Glaze "Let It Snow" Nail Polish Gift Set Giveaway. It features two colors (a beautiful blue and a sparkle polish that looks like it would be a fantastic top coat) as well as an adorable snow globe! Very much in the Christmas spirit.

You can get to the giveaway by following the link above, or the link in my sidebar. If you enter, good luck!

Day 22: What Makes You Happy

There are so many things that make me happy, so many things that I  think this entry would last for days.

The things that truly make me happy are my family, my bestie, and goddaughter. Everything else is just a meaningless possession or, in the words of my bestie, "it's just stuff". My family (this does include my bestie and goddaughter) are what keep me grounded, and that is all I really need.

Tag Catch Up (Again) and a Giveaway

Here we go again catching up on tags!

Day 19: Your Favorite Look From A Beauty Guru

I love color, so this almost instantly became one of my favorite looks. Josh is absolutely amazing, and does things with makeup like I've never seen in my twenty seven years. I adore his costume looks just as much as I love his regular tutorials. You should really check him out on youtube - his username is Petrilude.

Day 20: Your Favorite Mascara

My current favorite is Femme Couture Monster Lash, which can be purchased here at Sally Beauty Supply. I wear the shade Midnight Black. Two coats and my lashes stand out so much. Add a third only on the tips and it gives the look of false lashes.

Upside: It lasts all day long and makes lashes look super thick. It does not flake or smudge, unless you rub your eyes (which I have done on occasion after a long study session).

Downside: Not waterproof. Avoid rain and movies that are total tearjerkers or you will end up looking like a raccoon.

Day 21: Your Favorite Lipstick

I've yet to find my perfect color lipstick, so I stick to balms. My current favorite is made by EOS smooth sphere lip balm in Strawberry Sorbet. It works better than any other balm I've ever used. Not only does it smell great, but the container is super cute. Not very practical for pockets, unfortunately.

And it appears that I'm totally caught up!

What are some of your favorite eye and lip products? Have a favorite guru look? I'd love to see some of your favorites!

Before I end this entry, I've joined another giveaway that any other makeup fanatic will love. I've got a link in my sidebar for Pan-Pan's 100 Followers Giveaway. Six pairs of  upper lashes, plus one box of lower lashes! Head over to her blog to check it out: http://panda-agenda.blogspot.com/2011/12/100-followers-giveaway-thank-you.html.

Writing this has been a bit of a relief, helped me rid myself of some of my work related stress and worries.

Have a great night, everyone! Sweet dreams!

19 December 2011

I apologize for lack of posts over the past few days. The shop I work in has been falling apart from the inside out and I have been incredibly stressed. I may not have been involved, but I am feeling the repercussions.

I hope everyone had a great, and much less stressful, weekend.

Day 18 - Your Favorite Beauty Guru

I have never put much thought into who my favorite beauty guru is until I saw this question. I have never been one to get much information out of magazines or books, or follow one particular makeup artist. This is the generation of the internet and youtube, so most of my knowledge of makeup (that I didn't learn from my sissy or my drag queen friends) has been learned from youtube.

My first and favorite internet beauty guru is Jen from From Head To Toe. I discovered her youtube channel long before I discovered her blog while looking for various makeup looks to wear to work and college. Out of all of the videos I had watched, her personality seemed to click with me the most. She was my favorite in no time. Her tutorial videos are very easy to follow, even for someone with little experience with makeup. It's nice to hear someone else who has troubled skin give tips on how they keeps it under control. She can also be goofy and have no shame about it!

If you haven't already, go check out both Jen's blog and youtube channel.

15 December 2011

Tag Catch-up

Day 15 - Photo of Your Favorite Bracelet

I don't have one, because I don't wear bracelets! In my workplace it's incredibly impractical, so I just don't wear them period.

Day 16 - Music You Like

I listen to a little bit of everything. Classic rock has been my main thing lately, especially The Rolling Stones.

Ever since CBS Radio decided that my normal radio station, 103.1 the Buzz wasn't profitable enough and needed to be replaced by South Florida's fifth top 40 station, I've had to switch to our classic rock station because it is now our only rock station. Luckily, they play minimal Nickleback.

Day 17 - Fashion Pieces on Your To-Buy List

Nearly everything from H&M's Dragon Tattoo Collection by Trish Summerville, which you can view and purchase here. I love the punk/futuristic look to the whole collection.

I'd also like a new LBD, something angular with lovely clean edges like some I've seen in Vivienne Westwood's past collections.

As of right now, that is all I really want. My wants are very basic :)

14 December 2011

Two More Down

This is going to be another short post, mainly because I am still pretty high from my meds.

I had two teeth pulled yesterday, a wisdom tooth and a molar. The molar didn't hurt at all, but the wisdom tooth hurt terribly because there was some minor infection that the doctor didn't catch in my checkup last week. Dr. T stopped what he was doing when I squirmed and groaned, and allowed me to tell him what was wrong. Two more shots of anesthetic and I didn't feel a thing. All in all it was quick and easy. My father picked me up from the dentist and I came home to sleep it all off.

Unfortunately I'm stuck on a liquid/soft foods diet for the next few days. Never in my life have I wanted a ham and cheese sandwich as badly as I do right now. And a taco. And a Whopper. And cake.

On the upside, I haven't smoked since yesterday morning, nor have I had the urge to smoke. Go me!

On the grades front, I did get a response from my professor about the failing grade that I wasn't supposed to receive. He said it was a mistake and that he has submitted the information to the proper people to have that changed.

Tomorrow I will finish catching up with my 30 Days of Beauty tag, when I am not so high on pain meds.

11 December 2011

Oh, Baby!

This weekend has been a good one. I have had my goddaughter here all weekend and we have had a blast. I cannot tell you how many times we watched How To Train Your Dragon and James and the Giant Peach over this weekend. All I know is I can  quote both movies quite well at this point.

I also went to a Christmas party last night. I didn't really want to go because I spent all day coralling a toddler, but my boyfriend talke me into going because the host called him saying that she was disappointed with how small of a turnout she had. Being the nice people we are, we got dressed and headed to her apartment, only to find that we were the oldest ones there besides the host's husband. Somehow the topic of children got brought up, and I had to school some youngblood. He said that one child in a family is too much, so I nicely laid into him.  My boyfriend has three kids, and I care for my goddaughter when her mother has to work or go to class. We jokingly say I'm her 'baby-daddy'. I have absolutely no patience for some person to talk about children as if they are a menace, especially if they don't have any children. The guy ended up leaving the balcony by the time I was done with him, and I don't feel bad about it. You don't say things like that to a parent and expect no repercussions.

After that we went to the store so I could buy some new hoops. My big silver hoops broke yesterday and needed replacing. I need to get a picture of them. I absolutely love them.

I had another shock when I discovered my favorite radio station gone. I have listened to the Buzz 103.1 for the last sixteen years, since day one. Their morning show was my cup of coffee for years, and their acoustic set on Sunday mornings my hangover cure (once I was old enough to drink, of course!). Over the years, their crew has become like family. You could listen to them on the radio, and then go see them at events and they were just as cool in person as they were on the radio. Now that they are not on the air on FM, they are streaming online and on HD radio. I lack an HD radio, so I am stuck streaming while at home. I am going to miss them on my daily commute, but I'm glad they aren't gone for good. They have been pulled for SoFl's fourth or fifth top 40 station. I am waiting for them to get sued because of someone feeling their tagline is racist. "All of today's hits, without the rap." My brother is fired up over it, thinks it is racially discriminating.

Today, after a big dinner with bestie and my goddaughter, my bro came by. He is going to bring his Wii over on Thursday so I can get a taste of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword ^.^ I don't have the extra money to buy a Wii, so I will just play with him until I get my fill!

Now that you've had a breakdown of my weekend, on to my tag!

Day 13 - Photo of your fashion/style icon

Gwen Stefani has been an influence for me for years, from back in the early No Doubt years. I love how fierce she is, and always flawless. I think her fearlessness with fashion is what I adore about her.  Even more beautiful is her attitude and graciousness to her fans. She was the influence behind me going blonde. I, of course, didn't look as amazing as Gwen, but she gave me the urge to go out on a limb and be fearless.

I also like that she can pull off very classic looks as well as more punk and rock looks without batting an eyelash.

Day 14 - Photo of a Hairstyle/Haircut You'd Like To Have

I have no idea who this is, but I love her hair. I want to try bangs, and messy curls. My hair is growing out, almost as long as hers, but not quite. When I go for my next hair appointment my stylist is getting this picture so he can work his magic.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I know mine has been tiring! I will end this entry with my favorite song of the moment:

I wasn't sure what I thought of this at first, being a fan of Bush since their first major label release in '94 and how much of a departure this is from that, but it quickly grew on me. There is something about Gavin's voice that conveys such emotion to me, that seems to kick me in the chest. He's amazing. Gwen is a lucky gal ^.^

Are there any new songs that have grown on you lately?

Who are your fashion influences?

First Day of Freedom

Day one of freedom has arrived! Not true freedom, of course, because I still had a store to run today. It felt nice to be able to make it through the day at work without having to worry about some assignment being due, or a quiz/test coming up. It felt truly fantastic.

I did manage to get a lot done. Our backroom looks totally transformed. We have an extreme overstock and not enough room to put it, so the office area has a big wall of boxes. I told Bossman I wanted a privacy wall, and now I have a privacy wall made of boxes. I suppose I shouldn't complain. I did get part of the wall taken down and some of the boxes shoved on our back stacks, though now they are slap full and I still have a mini-wall of boxes. At least now it's not three boxes high over my head. To add insult to injury we got another pallet of goodies in today that I had to get put somewhere. I added another section to the massive box wall. I even got to spray snow the windows!

I lucked out an managed to get this weekend off. There is so much that  needs to be done around my home, mainly in my room. I have done laundry, but I never put any of it away, so I have three baskets to put away tomorrow. My bestie is working a 12 hour shift and leaving her daughter with me, which will be fun. My goddaughter loves to be helpful - I will use this to my advantage XD I have so much fun with that child.

Depending on how my bank account looks after I finish Christmas shopping, I am thinking about picking up some colored lenses. I've always been a bit afraid of lenses, to be honest. I've always had this weird fear of the lense curling up in my eye and getting stuck under my eyelid. Though lately I've been seeing more and more reviews on various colored and circle lenses, which makes me want to give them a try. Hell, I was afraid to get my ears pierced but took the plunge anyway last February, and I haven't looked back since. Trying the lenses may be an experience that I won't regret. I saw a post on Miss VyVy's blog about ColorLensWorld and her wonderful experience, so that might be the company I end up going with.

For those of you who wear colored/circle lenses, do you have any recommendations for a first time buyer?

Finally, a tag entry that is on time!

Day 12 - Your Favorite Color

This is going to sound endlessly girly, but I love the color pink. My headphones are pink, my office accessories are pink (including stapler!), even my coin bank is pink. All other pink things aside, I don't have much pink in my wardrobe because it looks absolutely dreadful on me!

08 December 2011

And It's Over

I took my last finals of the semester today.

I bombed the calc exam. It had me so discouraged I didn't want to go back to take my economics exam, but I did. It was a good thing. I learned that I had retained more than I thought, and that my professor doesn't like gin. Random information to be stored away for a rainy day :)

I was feeling great this morning so I got up and did my makeup a bit heavier than usual. Normally I don't wear much more than a light liner, mascara, and gloss. Today I dolled it up a bit more with a thicker mascara and some pinkish-red eyeshadow topped with my liquid liner from Sally Beauty Supply. It is really nice! Not as quick drying as I would have hoped, but it's got pretty good staying power. Hasn't flaked off yet, so bonus!

While studying I've been listening to a lot of music. Lately my biggest thing has been the soundtrack of Headwig and the Angry Inch. The song I've put in here is one of my favorites from the film, other than The Origin of Love (amazing song - you should check it out!). It's called Wicked Little Town and for some reason it always makes me feel good.

Again, I'm behind on my 30 Days of Beauty Tag, so here are the next few I've missed.

Day 10 - Current fashion/style you like

Lately, I've been going a bit more punk. Punk was and will always be my first love, so I try to throw it in wherever possible, hence the plaid bag from a few entries ago.

I have never been truly current in my fashion, preferring  more retro styles over what is happening now. I love to mix older pieces with something more trendy.

Day 11 - Bag you want to have

This one is uber-doober easy:

Harajuku Lovers messenger bag
Harajuku Lovers messenger bag
(see more harajuku lovers bags)

I am a total sucker for messenger bags because they hold all of my crap. Yes, I carry a lot of crap in my bags.

And the heart! The heart with the logo is one of the things that sold me on the bag. Love it!

Alright, I am off to relax after a long and stressful week.

For those of you still taking finals, best of luck! Keep your pimp hand strong and own those tests!

Dead Week

Finals are upon us! My bestie and I are like the walking dead, we've been studying so much. She's got straight A's this semester. I am so proud of her! I'm feeling pretty good about two of my classes, though I've got one that I don't feel confident about, and a class that I am accepting an I in so I can go back and do remedial testing. It's been a terrible semester.

Went to the dentist today. I have been cleared for takeoff! Next Tuesday I go in to have two wisom teeth pulled. I told Dr. Mark I was afraid of having another panic attack on the day of the extraction, so he gave me some anti-anxiety drugs to fix the problem. One before bed the day before, and one before the extraction. Hopefully that does the trick! Maybe after all of this work is done I'll be able to get the Invisalign on my bottom teeth like I want. They are really crooked.

I've been terrible about doing the 30 Days tag. Here are days 8 and 9 to make up for what I've missed!

Day 8 - A Photo That Makes You Laugh

This dog reminds me of my chihuahua that I had after I graduated high school! Too cute!

Day 9: Your Favorite Pair Of Shoes

I won't take a picture of these shoes, because they are hideous. I have been wearing my Volatile skull and crossbones style Chuck Taylor sneakers for the last ten years nearly. They are my most comfortable shoe, and they are falling apart because of how much I wear them. Ever since my trackies had their blowout I've worn nothing but these shoes, which is making them fall apart faster.

Not really the most glamorous shoe, but very comfortable.

For those of you who are taking finals in the next couple of weeks, good luck! You can do it! Like a boss XD

Day 6 & Day 7

Tomorrow officially brings the beginning of Dead Week (otherwise known as finals). Once again I am two days behind on my tag post, so here goes!

Day 06 - Anything Hello Kitty

How cute are these? Do want!

Day 07 - Your favorite animal

My favorite animal is (surprise surprise) the cat! I love cats, especially my Minnie :)

Time to study!

Day 4: Your Favorite Foundation & Day 5: Your Favorite Thing To Do

Since I am posting this at 12:00 AM, I am going to post both days four and five.

Day 4: Your Favorite Foundation

This is really a hard question for me since I have never found a foundation that really suits me as far as my skin (how oily it is) and perfect color.

Right now I am using a product called Rice Powder. It does a decent job for making my skin tone look more even, though I really need a concealer for all of my spots (bad, bad, breakouts lately).

One day I will find my perfect product.

Day 5: Your Favorite Thing to Do

Right now, video games. Final Fantasy X is my escape from the world. I haven't had much time to play lately since finals are coming up, unfortunately. I have spent days getting lost in the world of Spira, leveling up my characters, and striving for the perfect game.

I can honestly say I have never been as absorbed into a game like I have FFX.

There you have it. Two super short entries compiled into one short entry. I worked a split shift today, plus going to class and finishing off some assignments. I am completely knackered out.

Goodnight, all!

Birthday Goodies!

Yesterday was fantastic. My boyfriend and I spent the day together since it was my birthday. First he took me out to breakfast, which really wasn't all that fantastic since I still can't eat anything that isn't soft. Cheese grits and apple sauce really aren't that filling!

After breakfast we first stopped to pick up my mother's birthday present, since her birthday is on Friday. I found the cutest pink and black polkadot wrapping paper for her gift, and I can't wait to use it!

From there we drove to the next city over so he could take me shopping. He's never been good with buying gifts - he is the type that would rather I pick out exactly what I want and take all of the guesswork out of it.

First stop was a shoe store. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I wanted. Neither did any other store in the mall. Yeah, still searching for those perfect pair of track shoes. On the upside, I did find this cute bag:

It looks a little odd laying flat, but it looks much better when filled and hanging. This is the much needed replacement for my poor ripped boho bag that I shared a few entries back.
He also got me some new earrings!

Epic iPhone camera fail!

I only got my ears pierced last February, so the world of earrings is entirely new to me. Unfortunately for me, I got mine done at a gauge from the get go. I've got 16 gauge hoops in right now, when the average post for normal earrings ranges from an 18 to a 20. I had problems with the posts, especially the crowns, because if I didn't use both hands (one to hold it in, one to put the back on), it would fall out. Same with the wings. I wasn't going to put the plastic pieces on the back of the hooks (I didn't know I needed them), but my mind was quickly changed after I turned my head to look at something and the earring flew right out of my ear.
I also proved to myself I have not only poor depth perception, but size perception. Those wings go almost all of the way down to my shoulders. I thought the other two sets were smaller, too, but they are pretty honkin' big. They look lovely, though. Now it comes down to growing accustomed to the weight. My normal hoops are very light, so much so that I can't feel them.

Our last two stops were to the game store (where I picked up FFX-2), and then to the perfume shop to pick up a bottle of my Harajuku Lovers. I wasn't fully pleased with it, so I did take a moment to test out a few new scents (which all smelled like cocktails and hairspray). In my browsing I found Covet by SJP, which used to be my favorite scent. It has been about two years since I've seen it, leading me to think that it had been discontinued. In my happiness, I purchased the largest bottle they had.

After shopping, we wanted to see a movie. The only one currently showing there that I really wanted to see was A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas in 3D, but the only showing was at 10:35 PM and it was only 5:00 when we finished our shopping. I'm a little irritated that they had nearly six simultaneous showings of the newest Twilight movie, yet only one showing of Harold and Kumar. Then again, they are doing what is in their best financial interest, so I suppose I should understand given that I am in sales myself. Rather than settling for something I wouldn't be pleased with, we decided to journey home.

Not long after I got home my mother gave me a goodie bag full of useful things (like body wash and razors), and my brother and sis came by with my niece. We all spent some time together before they had to go take my niece home so she could go to bed (little miss loves to go to bed early so she can get up early for school). My boyfriend and I ended the night with The Hangover. Now I can't wait to watch The Hangover II!

All in all, I had a fantastic birthday. Between spending the day with my boyfriend, the few telephone calls I received, and all of the facebook messages, I really felt special on my birthday for the first time in years.

Day 03 - Your Favorite Brush

I've only recently started really using brushes, so I don't have a very large amount of experience that I do have, but my favorite so far is my Femme Couture Mineral Effects Kabuki Brush (which you can get here). It is very soft to the touch and blends all of my powders perfectly.

I wish there was more to this entry, but how much can one really say about a brush? It suits it's purpose, and it's a pretty decent deal for the price.

29 November 2011

Day 02 - Your Favorite Bag

This was an easy one:

I love this bag more than any of my others because all of my crap fits in it, haha. Believe me, I carry way too many things when I leave the house. Unfortunately I've got to fix it (where the strap is coming loose) and haven't gotten around to it.

This is one of my bargain finds. I picked this up on sale for $12 at a Walmart some months ago. It's fake leather, though I don't mind that. The only criteria I had when looking was 'it holds my stuff without looking like something an 80 year old woman would carry'. It was love at first sight.

28 November 2011

Day 01 - Your Favorite Eyeliner

I am terrible about eyeliner. I love it more than any other type of makeup (except for possibly mascara), so when I get it I like to buy the best I can get.

So far my favorite has been Chanel's Liquid Eye Lines in Noir, pictured below.

This is one of the products I discovered in high school. For me, it is important that my eye makeup lasts all day. I've got generally oily skin, and in true fashion for lower end products most of the products I've tried have either worn off by noon or have smeared without me touching my eye area. Not this! It is completely unaffected by my oily skin and my random tears during touching movies. It even outlasts random Florida rain showers!

Another bonus is the ease of application. I am not very good at liquid liner, so I have to get in there and get the job done in one fell swoop and hope I don't smudge before it dries. This is very quick drying, which made it became my total go-to liner almost right off the bat. The only downside to the quick dry is if you mess up it can be tough to get off without a really good eye makeup remover (water doesn't do the job, obviously), so keep a good remover and cotton swabs on hand for any accidents.

If memory serves right, this retails for about $32 a bottle (holy high-liner, Batman!), but it is one of those products that I think is worth every penny. Mine lasted me quite a while, about six months or so with once or twice daily application, which makes me consider it a good investment. Keep in mind I wore this stuff during my 'gother than thou' days, so I caked it on, haha.

I have yet to find any drugstore brand that even compares. If anyone knows of something that does compare, please let me know. Seeing as I'm a full time college student on a limited income, I am unable to splurge on my favorites like I did when I was working full time.

Birthday Mini-Haul: Sally Beauty

Did an uber-mini haul from Sally Beauty Supply. Tomorrow is my birthday and I wanted some new polishes to wear for my mini-birthday holiday.

China Glaze in Below Deck
First I fell in love with this color. It looks a little lighter in the bottle than what it looks like when on, but I love the almost heather color. I put this one on not ten minutes after I got home with it. Just as I've grown to love from China Glaze, it was easy to go on, darkened up nicely after two coats, and dried extremely fast.

China Glaze Cha Cha Cha
This is the second color that caught my eye. Anyone who has known me for years knows I have this diehard love of the show Cabaret, particularly one Miss Sally Bowles. Sally paints her nails green, so for years I've been in search of the perfect Sally Bowles green. I think I may have found it! It has a lot of sparkle in the bottle, so I hope that comes out more muted when on.

Last but not least, I needed a new liner brush.

Face Secrets Concealer/Liner brush
I'm starting to really fall in love with brushes over using the applicators that come with the various producs. If you look closely at the tip of the brush it has a very fine contour, which will be perfect for the powder liner I've been using from my Physician's Formula palette, wich can be found in this entry.

For my birthday tomorrow, the boyfriend and I are going out of town so I can do a little shopping. Not two days after my adidas blew out their shell top, my Chucks started to fall apart. I have had those since 2003, so I am beyond shocked that they have lasted this long. Tomorrow I am going to search for some new shoes (I am down to one pair of work shoes now), and for some foundation that won't make me break out like mad. One last goodie I have to get before I leave is a new bottle of perfume. I've worked my way through almost everything I have, with Harajuku Lovers G and Love being the last two standing. I need something that will last all day, and neither of the Harajuku Lovers truly cut it.

Does anyone have any good foundation recommendations for sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts? I've tried Clinique, but that didn't go very well. I am tied between going back to my old standby of Chanel, or trying Mac. I have heard endless good things about Mac and want to try it for myself.

Tag: Get Your Freak On

I just watched a tag video from Jen over at From Head To Toe titled Get Your Freak On, which is fifteen weird facts about yourself, and decided I wanted to do it too. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera, so I am just going to answer the list of questions since they are all so much fun.

#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?

I don't really have a name that only my family calls me. My Dad has one name for me (Stink - think Bugs Bunny "Ain't I a stinker?"), and then my Granny calls me Toodles. I have no idea where that one came from. Everyone else just calls me by my name.

#2. What's a weird habit of yours?

I'm not sure if this is a real weird habit, or if it's just my OCD rearing it's ugly head, but when I'm writing all of my letters have to look just right to me. It's not unusual for me to erase a letter or word and write it over and over again until it looks absolutely perfect in my mind. This is one reason I write exclusively in pencil now, unless I am forced to write in ink. Even then I have the ink that erases so I can fix letters that just look funky in my eyes.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias?

If I am at the beach I won't go in the water if I can't see the bottom. I don't have a fear of the water, but the critters that are in the water. The biting and stinging critters that could make a pleasant day at the beach end at the hospital. If I even feel something brush against my leg, my beach day is over.

#4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast & belt out when you're alone?

I love disco. Machine's There But For The Grace Of God Go I has always been one of my favorites, and I belt it out and dance like an idiot to it. Too much fun!

#5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?

I can't stand mess. If one thing is out of place, suddenly my entire house is messy and I must clean. My boyfriend is a bit of a messy guy, so I am always picking things up after him, especially in the bedroom. We have a hamper for a reason, and sometimes it just doesn't sink in for him, haha.

#6. What's one of your nervous habits?

I pick at my cuticles. It is terrible, and makes my fingers look terrible, but I have done it since I was a child.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

Generally, in the middle, or wherever else I may crash. We have a king sized bed, so I can sleep totally diagonally and there still be room for three more people to make themselves one hundred percent comfortable. I have never been picky about having one side of the bed or the other.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal & it's name?

My first stuffed animal was a siamese cat that I called 'Boo Kitty' because it had blue eyes. I couldn't pronounce blue until I was maybe around four, but she was still Boo Kitty in my eyes. I still have her, in my closet ^.^

#9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks?

I don't do Starbucks. It's overpriced for low quality coffee that tastes bad to me. Support your local coffee houses, people!

#10. What's the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?

I won't preach something I don't practice. It goes against my morals, and makes me feel like I am putting on a bad example.

#11. Which way do you face in the shower?

It depends on what portion of the shower you are talking about. I generally face away, since I hate getting water in my face.

#12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?

My fingers are double jointed. I can do this weird claw thing with my fingers. All of my fingers also bend back a lot more than what is apparently possible by most human beings. I never considered it unusual until I met someone who had fingers that didn't bend backwards XD

#13. What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food that's 'bad' but you love to eat it anyway?

Philly Cheese Steak anything. Be it the sandwich or the pizza from Domino's, I love it even though I can feel my blood pressure rising each time I eat one.

#14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?

I change out frequently, and make up a lot of words. Buttfluff has been a recent one, to avoid calling people more vulgar names. Example: "Listen here, buttfluff" rather than "Listen here, (insert vulgar name here)". Sometimes I overuse 'wicked' when something is awesome, or 'wicked cool'.

#15. Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?

An oversize U2 'War' album shirt. It goes to my knees and is the absolute in comfort. If I could wear it all of the time for the sake of comfort, I would.

Well, that is my list! Maybe one day I'll have a nice camera so I can start recording some of these tags on video :)

When Did Shoe Shopping Get So Hard?

Much to my great displeasure, my treasured pair of trackies (a pair of Adidas Superstars in black and pink) have finally blown out their shell top. After seven years of wear, four jobs, and many college functions, it is time to retire my favorite pair of kicks.

After wearing them for so long, I have grown accustomed to their fit and have been trying to find a new pair. It is easy to find the Superstar II. What isn't easy is finding that exact pair of black with the pink stripe. In the pink stripe you could see the classic adidas logo in different shades of pink. It was love at first sight when I first found them, and now I'm going nuts trying to find another pair.

When did it get so hard to find a new pair of shoes? I know this hunt would be much easier if I would settle for another pair of trackies, but I want these trackies, just like the pair I've got now.

I am going out of town for my birthday next Tuesday, so I am going to scour the Treasure Coast area for a pair, since I can't seem to find them on the internet. I hope I find something.

Crap Day With Funny End

Yesterday was one of the worst days I have had in a long time.

First off, I dropped my breakfast. I found a slice of school pizza that my mother had brought home in the fridge, so I figured it would be the breakfast of champions. School pizza is awesome. I made it half way to the microwave with it and I dropped it, cheese side down. I considered washing it off, but we have been spraying with flea poison, so it wouldn't have been a good idea.

After a not so awesome breakfast of a burrito, I went to brush my teeth. Somehow in the process I ended up with toothpaste in my eye. Of course it's not just the plain paste, it's the sort with little granules in it for scrubbing off any surface stains, so it burned like hell and was gritty.

I had a test to take for Business Calc, so off I go with a belly full of not so satisfying burrito and a red and irritated eye.

I had been studying for the test all week long, staying up really late on days I had off and spending every spare second of my time otherwise hitting the books, so I was super confident. I took my time, spending roughly an hour on this test, only to fail it spectacularly. I got a 35%. 7 out of 20 questions correct.

I left the school bummed and went straight to work, an hour early, so I could take out my frustrations cleaning the back room.

The day did improve after that (since all I do at work really is get paid to hang out).

The best part was when I checked my class grade when I got home: my failing test brought up my overall grade by 3 percentage points.

Go me.

This time I am working even harder. My final is in early December, so I have to bust my tail if I have a hope and a dream of bringing my grade high enough to pass the class. I must pass this class if I hope to graduate in the spring like I've been anticipating.

I can do this. All it will take is some extra hard work.

Winter Wardrobe

Today was a fantastic day. Not because I got to spend the day with my dear one (which was amazing as it waas), but because the cutest winter coat. The picture from the website is going to have to do, since I don't have a camera to take a picture with.

This was a great find from my local Walmart. It's faux wool coat made by George, and it cost me $28.47. I found it in the girls' department.

I am a petite girl. I am about 5ft 1inch (155cm) tall, and weigh about 110 (50kg), so I have a really hard time trying to find clothing in my small town. Walmart has almost no petite section, and the petites section at the Bealle's Outlet is filled with clothing that looks like a 70 year old woman would wear it, not a woman in their 20's. Generally my outlet is the girls' departments of my local stores, or majorly lucking out in the local Goodwill store.

For me, this coat was an amazing find. I normally wear a 10/12 in girls' clothes, but I got this in a 14/16 so I would have room for sweaters and other thick winter clothes when it gets cold. The best part is the length. On me, it lands just above my knees. Had I found this in the ladies' department, it probably would have come to my mid calf, which would make me look even shorter than I already am. That isn't counting the other proportions that would be off. My sewing skills aren't good enough to take a garnment completely apart to reconstruct it for my smaller body!

For those petite ladies out there who are on a budget like I am, I think this is definitely something worth checking out.

Now I have to find the perfect shoes an handbag! Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking red heels ^.^

12 November 2011

So Close!

I submitted both my grad app and my information for spring commencement on Monday. Just think, in a few more months I will be a college graduate! My parents and sister never went to college, so it makes me proud to be the first of my immediate family to have gone to and graduated from college. So far, in my extended family, only five of us have gotten this far. I will be the fifth of my family to graduate.

School has been getting tougher and tougher. I've only got a month left, so I've really got to start getting my tail in gear. I am doing decently in all of my classes, though I think I can do better.

Tonight is going to be dedicated to finishing off my math homework and studying for this week's test. I've got to start my next programming assignment and finish off some other assignments that my professor wants me to resubmit because they weren't right on target. Then I should start research on my term paper (still don't know what I'm going to write about - probably Occupy Wall Street) and finish off my assignments for economics. I really need to end this semester on a high note and get the best marks possible.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone still reads this thing. I see page views in my statistics, but I'm not sure if it's my own page views when I pop in every now and again to check my c-box XD

05 November 2011

New Goodies and Holy Bujeebers!

First off, holy woah, the semester is almost over. I didn't realize this until my economics professor started laying out the schedule for the rest of the semester.

Then it hit me like a shit-ton of bricks.

I have so much to do for all of my classes and I don't feel like I have enough time.

Tonight is dedicated to studying while watching movies. First is Beauty and the Beast. Next is probably the Death Note movies again, then whatever is on Adult Swim tonight. Anime night! Yay! It's been so long since I've been able to stay up past midnight, I doubt I'll actually get to see any of my shows.

Now for my new finds.

A few days ago I watched a hair tutorial posted by Jen over at From Head to Toe (to check it out, go here). I have never been able to braid my own hair, but I finally did manage to get it done after multiple tries. Anyway, one of the products she used in the tutorial were Goody Spin Pins.

I have been curious about them for a while, but didn't ever think to buy them since I never really have any luck with the products that are supposed to make doing your hair easy. After watching Jen throw her hair into a bun so quickly and easily I decided to try them for myself, and I am glad I did. I have never been able to put my hair into a bun without using an elastic that would show. With these, I can do a simple bun with absolutely no issues. It doesn't fall down, either! These have become one of my newest favorite styling items.

On that trip to the market, I also got Hard Candy's World Balmination in Bridal Blush (around $3.00) and Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner palette for hazel eyes (around $10).

First off, the Bridal Blush.

I know it looks very orange in this picture, but it is more nude than anything. I like it because it tones down the natural redness I have in my lips, and adds a nice touch of gloss. The downside is it doesn't last very long. I can't judge exactly how long the color lasts since there isn't much color apparent on my skin, though I did get an accurate idea by how quickly the overall glossy look diminishes. I've worn it to work a few times and have yet to see any sort of staying power. It isn't bad for $3.00.

I have yet to try the Physician's Formula shadow, mainly because I don't wear much makeup to work, though I had to share it.

This palette is designed to enhance hazel eyes. I don't have hazel eyes, but I got it anyway for that delicious pinkish purple in the middle. The picture simply doesn't do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful.

I need a new camera so I can share swatches and results! Maybe I will buy myself one for my birthday!

02 November 2011

Assignment and Movie Day

Had a second day off, so I spent it doing assignments and watching movies! Wonderful way to spend the day :)

Watching Sweeney Todd right now. Of course since I'm a sucker for music, I have to share my favorite song from the movie ^.^

I didn't get as much accomplished with my assignments as I would have hoped, though I did get a bit done. I kept getting stuck on my accounting, mainly because the program where our assignments are located is so flawed. You can have the correct values, and it will still mark things as incorrect. My professor is already well aware of this, so we will be graded on the amount of time spent on the different chapter assignments.

I still have to finish a program, though I did get the groundwork done today (the skeleton of the program, with comments where the functions will go once they are written), very basic code. It is due tomorrow night, so I've got plenty of time to get the functions written and put into the rest of the code. I have a feeling that this will be the easiest to code yet, simply for the fact that I have really studied the chapter.

The only thing that would have made this day better is rain.

01 November 2011

Trying Witch Hazel

My skin has been going nuts lately, and I can't figure out exactly what the cause is. I have tried various products that I've used in the past, but it still isn't stopping my breakouts.

My mother pointed me in the direction of something she used to use when she had breakouts: witch hazel.

On a trip to the Dollar Tree I found some and thought I would give it a try. My mother and I have very similar skin types, so if it worked for her I think it might work for me as well.

After I washed my face I applied some with a cotton ball, and I was amazed at the gunk that came off of my skin! I thought I had a great cleanser since it works wonders on blackheads, but it left behind so much! After the witch hazel I applied my regular moisturizer.

Generally I am oily about an hour or so after I wash my face and put on my moisturizer (normal thing for hot and humid Florida), though here we are about an hour and a half later and my skin feels just as clean as after I finished my nightly routine.

I won't have a full review of results for at least a week (I imagine that is how long it will take for my skin to clear), though I can already feel a distinct difference in my skin. I really hope this works.

I emailed my professor about the error I got when I submitted my quiz. Turns out I was in a panic over nothing (as usual).

Not only did my quiz register in the gradebook, but apparently it is my best quiz yet! Fantastic!

Now on to working on Assignment 7 (using functions!) and finishing off some math assignments (with some extra study).

I still have to get started on my term paper for Economics. He said that the paper doesn't necessarily have to be about something mentioned in the class, but anything that concerns economics. I think I want to explore the similarities between what is happening with the US economy now and what happened to the Japanese economy in the 1990's after their own housing bubble burst, and if there is a chance that the US could possibly go through it's own "Lost Decade". I need to discuss the idea with my professor first, since I have a feeling that I may be biting off more than I can chew with this.

I am behind with my accounting, but I don't have class tomorrow so I will use that time to get more done. I am nearly caught up, though not quite as on top of things as I would like to be.

Ok, no more procrastinating. Time to get things done.

So I spend thirty minutes working on a quiz for my programming class. I studied hard this time so I felt uber confident. I even went back and double checked my work.

After I hit submit I got an error message. "Error: cannot connect to server. Your work may not be saved."

Chasing My Tail

No matter how hard I try, I feel like I am getting nowhere.

One week after having a wisdom tooth removed I have another toothache.

I need a root canal. I know I need a root canal. The root canal and crown will cost me about $1500. I don’t have that kind of money, so I am doing everything I can to try to earn the money. I have been given more hours at work, I’m working after hours at the shop, and I’ve got some merchandise that I am selling on eBay for Bossman. Even so, it seems like things aren’t happening fast enough. I am in a lot of pain, but I have to keep working harder and harder.

And I feel like I am getting nowhere, chasing my tail.

I know life isn’t supposed to be easy, but it doesn’t necessarily have to suck as hard as it is now. School is getting overwhelming, and keeping medicated at all times to calm the tooth pain isn’t helping any.

Readers of this blog must think I endlessly bitch and whine. I assure you that this is not the case. You get all of the bitch and whine here because I cannot do it in my life outside of the internet!

If I stop moving, I may not start again. I am so tired.

One Step At A Time

I am on day five nearly smoke free. I went four days without a cigarette at all (under doctor's orders), and when I finally had one again it tasted terrible. In the past twenty four hours I have had maybe a cigarette and a half.
Hopefully I will be completely smoke free by the holidays.

All Done

I had my tooth pulled today. It was an adventure.

First off, I have been having panic attacks all day long. I was so scared.

When I got to the dentist, they put me in a room with no nitrous and I had another panic attack, this time with tears and the shakes.

I had to wait longer for a room with nitrous to be open for me. I was too afraid to go without.

Getting the tooth pulled sucked. It sucked. It was uncomfortable and it mildly hurt.

The bleeding has finally stopped and I'm sleepy. I was given even more medicines to take for the next few weeks.

I cannot wait to be finished with all of this dental work.

Dead Tired

The last week and a half has been pure hell. I haven't been getting home until late every night, always completely exhausted.

I honestly feel like I haven't slept in at least a week, though I've slept at least six hours each night.

I feel like school is getting harder now that I'm coming closer to my associates degree.

Work is getting harder because of my increased hours (though I love the pay).

Then there are family obligations on top of it all.

I feel like I am stretched so thin that I am not going to be able to do it all without going out of my mind.

I had intended on cutting back on my smoking and being completely smoke free by the Christma holidays, though that seems completely out of the window now. I get stressed out, I smoke.

It is better than getting completely drunk, I suppose.

I got my degree audit in the mail last week, informing me that I am close to the end of my degree program (which I already knew) and that I am eligible for graduation in the spring. I am excited yet afraid, wondering if I am going to be able to do it.

It is time to start planning on what I will be doing for my bachelor's degree now. I wish to stay at the school I am at, even though they don't offer all of the programs I want. It will be a decision I have to make by next fall.

Listening to the GazettE's latest right now (Toxic). To be honest, I'm not sure what I think about it yet. A lot of electronic influences, something different than what I am used to hearing from them. I won't be able to base a true opinion of it until I listen to the album a few times. For now it is good fuel for cleaning house and working on homework.

Hells Yeah!

This is like my dream come true. I am going to definitely keep an eye out on this to see what happens.

I know that I am not the best blogger in the world, and I'm very far from influential, but this could be an excellent opportunity for me to see the country that has held my fascination since childhood. It will also give me a chance to use the bits and pieces of Japanese I've learned ^.^

Ok, back to studying for midterms. I had to get my excitement out!

I Don't Know If I Can Do It

Between work and school, I am having so much trouble this semester.

The only class I am doing extremely well in is my economics class. The others I am passing, but barely.

I only have one more semester before I finish my associates degree, and I wonder if I will actually be able to complete it with top marks like I'd like.

My bestie and I cheer each other on, though I wish I had more people on my side giving me encouragement.

I haven't been feeling well for at least three days now. I have yet another infected tooth so I have been put on yet another round of antibiotics. They are making me sick as all hell. To add insult to injury I am being given more hours at work after Bossman decided to cut another girl's hours. I know I was given the hours because I am one of the lead employees, and I do appreciate it as I have dental bills to pay, though the toll it is taking on my body and my schooling is not entirely worth it.

Sometimes I wonder if I am cut out for all of this, and the jobs that will come in the future once I have my programming degree.

Sometimes I wonder if I would just be content to get married and be a housewife.

Not. Very. Likely.

During my downtime being sick I've been piddling around a lot on the internet. I found a site where I can make little avatars, so I created one. I'm not one hundred percent pleased with it, though I do adore the hair. I have always wanted to do this to my hair, but don't have the courage.

That is how I used to dress when I was in high school, minus the amazingly cool hair. The only thing missing now are a pair of earrings ^.^

I open the shop tomorrow, so I need to go to bed soon. I am just staying up long enough to take my last dose of antibiotics for the night. I cannot wait for this infection to go away so I can go in and get the tooth pulled. I'm scared to death, but as long as I have my nitrous I will be fine. Anymore it seems that in that dentist's chair with my nitrous is the only time I can truly relax and be stress free.

Brief Update

I'm on my dad's computer again. No hope on mine yet, but I won't give up saving.

I started classes on Tuesday. So far Calculus is easy, and makes me fall even more in love with math. My programming class looks promising too. My professor this time is very helpful.

Went to my first accounting class yesterday, and my professor looks like an aged Draco Malfoy. Watch Deathly Hallows Part II and you will see what I mean during the 19 years later portion. He is really nice, if not a bit chatty. The class went the full two hours, mostly because of his chatter.

Have Economics today. I am looking forward to it.

We are starting to get the winds from that hurricane that is in the Atlantic. We aren't going to take a direct hit thank god. I do worry for those on the east coast, though, since the storm is heading right for them.

Time to get things done. It's going to be a long day!

Computer Issues

My Mac finally started to go bad. After six long years Doris (yes, I named my computer) is having problems. She freezes at random, and will only last about 20 minutes before the operating system fails. I will definitely miss that computer. It was my first Mac.

Updates will not be as frequent as they were, at least until I save to get a new Mac. I am on my dad's computer now, and I'll probably hop onto the computers at school every now and again once classes start again.

If you need to get in touch with me, email is the best way since I can check that with my phone.

Road Trip!

The fam and I went on a little road trip yesterday, so I come today with pictures from the road!

I-95 at 75 MPH

Somewhere in West Palm

More West Palm

Traffic backed up after an accident.

Storm on the way back.

Stuck on the side of the road in the rain.

It was a pleasant journey, though I will say I don't see how people can live in that area and drive on a daily basis without going insane. It was CRAZY!

On a side note: Mama likes to go fast. I was in a good car and I was able to go some nice speeds on the highway. I was so into driving I didn't realize that I was going around 80 mph in a 65 mph speed zone. In my mother's car (which has a nice engine) it was really easy to go high speeds and not think about it. Hearing that engine purr with acceleration... Boy, does Mama like to go fast.

Went to a financial lecture tonight with Bossman. It wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and they want like $100 for a 13 week set of lessons. I am doing my own special things to save, so I am not really wanting to do this. Bossman says it pays off in the end. I couldn't do it right now even if I wanted to. I have $7 to my name. I had to ask my mother to buy my medicine for me so I could start getting rid of the infection I have in one of my teeth. I just don't have that sort of money right now to spend on some sessions that are supposed to help me gain more confidence in my finances. There is another showing of the video next week so I may take my mother with me so she can check it out.

Time to calm down for the day and get ready to go to bed. I think I open the store tomorrow! Fun times!
